The Most wonderful time of the year :D

Christmas day was soo amazing! I was reminded of why it's my favourite time of the year. No, not just because of the food but because of the love and joy shared with my wonderful family & friends. I feel so blessed to have them in my life and each christmas spent together is another memory I'll cherish forever. Church in the am, 5 houses, surprise visits, crap gifts (lool it's the thought that counts!!), apple pie & dance competitions all made the day what it was. I'm still listening to Justin Bieber's christmas album, yes i'm a belieber! :D

Green velvet + guipure lace was the theme for mine & my sister's outfits. I'm a big fan of lace but I've recently fallen so in love with guipure.

For me, it was a green fitted velvet dress & a black lace crop top to go over it.

I can't wait to wear this top again, but with a yellow dress!!

I made a green velvet dress for my sister with some lace detailing, this dress was loved by many.

My brother & his wife had a little couple swag going on which I thought was quite cool!

Ok so it's the season of giving and I'm feeling generous. Can anyone spot another dress in my previous posts which has the same lace detail on it as the one in the green dress in this post? A skater skirt is up for grabs :)

From me & mine to yours, may the rest of your days this year be merry & bright.

The eve of Christmas Eve

I was meant to go to a christmas party on the eve of Christmas eve with my girls, so I made a christmassy outfit for it. We ended up not going :( but I wore to church regardless as it was a sunday. I must say I didn't think much of this dress when I finished with it. It seemed like it looked better in my head. However, to my surprise, alot of people thought it was really beautiful. That made me happy :) I did something quite different with this one, I lined the insides with a contrasting colour, you can see a little bit of this in the sleeves.

Here it is:

Happy Holidays!

Hello lovely readers, season's greetings to you all :) I hope you are all excited & looking forward to a very merry Christmas day! I know I am, woop! :D 2days to go, I can't wait to stuff my face with jollof rice, fried rice, smoked turkey, sea bass, squid, plantain & gizzard courtesy of mummy & apple pie and custard courtesy of Doyin(it's an 'itis' thing loool); and spend time with my loved ones of course. It really is the most wonderful time of the year...

But until then, here's a lil something for you. I made this outfit last month and wore it to church. It features four of my favourite colours - navy, green, red & beige/tan/camel. It's a very chilled and comfortable look but most definitely still fab ;) I like to pay attention to the little details, the buttons on the skirt & the contrasting colour collar on the top add that extra edge to it. Ruby Woo lipstick is also a certified boost to any ensemble. So here it is, hope you like! :D

Coming of Age: Sade's 18th

Every young girl looks forward to turning 18; the age when you legally become an adult! Therefore it's not uncommon to want to celebrate in style, whether it be a big party or dinner in a fancy restaurant with close friends. Personally turning 21 was far more exciting for me; celebrated the entire weekend! lool karaoke in an american diner + partying with R & B superstar Amerie, lool good memories to hold on to..

Sade decided to have dinner with her friends in a lush restaurant for her 18th birthday celebration. I had the privilege of making her birthday dress :) She was certain she wanted a dress made out of african print so she could really stand out. She showed me a print she already had but I was of the opinion that it was too dark. I asked her what colours she liked and I went fabric shopping with that in mind. I found some really pretty prints and she agreed to use it. Mixing prints is one of my favourite things to do in designing, I shared the idea with Sade and she was happy for me to run with it. This is the initial sketch I sent to her:

The final outcome was slightly different. After a consultation, we decided to go for a 2-layered dress instead. 2 became 3 after our first fitting, as it came up a little too short :( Nevertheless it worked, and Sade was really pleased with her dress. Thanks to Jadoy for the hairspiration.
