The Yellow Series #2

Hey Sweeties, so sorry for the delay in bringing you part 2 of this series. Reason is because I wanted to show them in the order that they were created but it's been a challenge trying to get photos of the 2nd creation from this beautiful yellow fabric. Therefore, here is outfit number 3.

I worked on this creation late one saturday night/early hours of sunday to wear to church. However, when I finished it, I just didn't want to wear it anymore. My sister convinced me to. Glad i did, as it was soo very well received, everyone seemed to like it. I also got a few orders for the same dress! Glorayy! lol. I was rocking my short 'fro and some pearls. I hope you like it too :) Lemme know, leave a comment. You don't need to login to do so anymore! woop! :D

Look out for part #3 ! Exciting new face, promise you're going to love it! :)

The Yellow Series #1 - Bridesmaids #1

So over the past 2 weekends, it just seemed like everyone was getting married. Everyone was at some wedding, ask my Instagram feeds and bbm updates. Weddings are fun, absolutely love them. I wish I got invites to more weddings:( . I love bridalwear too and I can't wait to make my first wedding gown. I've done a few bridesmaids dresses and here is the first that I ever did.

It was in January 2011, I had less than a month to create 9 dresses. It was hectic but fun. The girls were all so lovely and easy to work with. The bride's favourite colour is Yellow, so we had to go for yellow dresses. After deciding on a style, I went fabric shopping and found the most amazing bright yellow fabric. Being new to the biz, I bought sooo much more than I actually needed. Hence, the rest of the garments in the yellow series :) Looking back, I see a few fitting/technique blunders that I made.. lol thank God for growth. I also don't think this fabric is really ideal for bridesmaid dresses. It's too rigid. Many thanks to photographer A.Deru for some of these amazing photos. Excuse the low quality ones.

a different look for the chief bridesmaid
and another for the MOH

Hope you like.

The Pink Wool Dress

Hi guys :) Autumn/Winter is quickly creeping on us and I'm so excited because of all the interesting and really pretty wool/knitwear fabrics that I've spotted in the shops! woop! I've got a few ideas in my head and I look forward to making my first outer jacket!

I found this really nice pink wool back in June and I couldn't resist. I decided to make a dress out of it for a 25th birthday mini concert. I didn't realise until the dress was all done and I was rocking out at the concert that I would get really warm in it. lol well duh? I should've known better. Regardless, I absolutely love this dress and I feel great in it. I'm generally not a big fan of pink, but I like the occasional hot pink shoes, hot pink lips, THIS hot pink dress and the pink (and yellow) diamond that I'd love to be in my engagement ring. Amen! :D :D

I wore the dress with a unique pair of shoes that I got at my big sis/friend Evelyn's beauty auction! Check out her blog here to get more info on the hottest beauty products around and of course to be informed about the next auction!! http://evelynlovesbeauty.blogspot.co.uk/   Sharing is Caring :)

I decided to wear the dress again to church last sunday as I didn't get the memo about the weather and I thought it'd be cold. This time around with tights. I must say, I prefer the look with no tights on. However, I plan to wear it some more in the colder months and I'd need to wear tights with it. I will most likely play down the shoes next time and let it match the tights so the dress is still statement.

I particularly love the back of the dress. It adds more detail to such a simple style.

I had to include this pic of my friend's beautiful son Az! mwah
Hope you liked this post and thanks for spreading the word! Oh yea follow me on instragram - @Wuraf  :)

#TeamUSA

Last month, we had our annual multicultural day at church. It was the most beautiful service ever. It's a day when each person/team dresses up as a national of a foreign country. No better time to have such than right after the Olympics and just before the Paras; keeps the spirit going. (side note: my church is located right next to the Olympic park :D #coolStuff).

I made a last minute suggestion to the media team that we dress as the #TeamUSA athletes because we're winners like that! #TeamGoldMedallists  lol... To relieve stress, I offered to make the skirts for the girls, trying to give Ralph Lauren a run for his money lol... Ok so here's a reminder of what their uniform was:

Ok a bit of an overshare but y'all get the gist. I decided to make navy skirts instead as I figured it'd be easier for the girls to find a white shirt in a week than to get navy blazers + white skirts (which they most likely do not own already). You might say that's not the uniform but it's all about perception and the idea they portrayed was "Preppy Sailors". I think we came pretty close as a group. Thumbs up to the guys for bringing to the best of their ability! I found some preppy looking ties at primark for the guys and scarves for the girls.

I kept getting the not so shocking : "You're French right?" because of the beret, but #TeamFrance didnt even wear the beret at the olympics and they had their girls in trousers.

Jaime really werking the skirt! It's her birthday today so Happy birthday Jaime!! :D So I had the worst nightmare when on saturday afternoon before the sunday, I realised I didn't have enough fabric and it had sold out in the shops. I went round looking for an alternative and found this corduroy that I used for Jaime's, turned out quite alright actually...

"I want my skirt shorter"

Our very own Kevin Durant & Carmelo Anthony lool not

Husband & Wife. Had to make a maternity version too for Mrs Nikki.

Right, so my stats tells me that I have an audience in the UAE *big grin* Time for me to start making some Arab moneys!lool this one's for YOU guys:

For all y'all stateside, hope I did y'all proud. Leave a comment plss :)
